Interim Report of the Easter Sunday attack to President today

President Gotabaya Rajapaksha appointed a Presidential Commission to probe into the Easter Sunday terror attacks on three Churches and three prominent Hotels in Colombo.

As a result of the attack, carried out by a Muslim extremist group where the master mind Zaharan Hasheem who too got blasted , the economy of the country was drastically effected by foreign visits coming to a hold.

The most affected trade was tourism and leading Hotel had no any other options but to retrench the staff which became a severe unemployment issue in the country.

The Secretary of the Commission Mr. H.M.B.P. Herath confirmed that the interim report will be furnished today to President Gotabaya Rajapakshe. 35 individuals including Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith gave evidence in the Commission.

The five member commission is headed by Court of Appeal Judge Janaka De Silva. Even though information about the attack was communicated well ahead to the respective government bodies, a severe destruction occurred to lives and properties since the due action was not taken by authorities. President Gotabaya Rajapakshe’s gave the prominence to the probe to find out roots and modalities of the attack and to bring those who were responsible before the law.
